A deposit (also known as a security deposit) is a security payment that the tenant makes before taking over the vehicle. It serves the landlord as security for damages, return of the vehicle and payment of rental fees.
For owners of high-value sports cars, the deposit is essential, as repair costs and loss of value in accidents can reach immense sums. It minimizes the financial risk for the owner.
Usually, the deposit is collected by credit card (processing via the credit card institute) or by SEPA direct debit. The money is then blocked or collected for the duration of the rental and credited back after return.
It covers damage to the vehicle that is not covered by comprehensive insurance (e.g. tire damage, underbody), as well as fuel shortages, fines and cleaning in case of heavy soiling.
Providers must ensure that they are not left with the costs in the event of damage. Especially with exclusive vehicles, the risk of total loss or theft without a deposit is too high for the owner.

What does the “without deposit” option cost me?
This involves one-time service fees that vary depending on the vehicle. These amount to a fraction of the actual deposit and offer you maximum liquidity.
What happens if I have an accident?
Regardless of the deposit, insurance is always required. The deposit-free option regulates the security payment to the provider. In the event of damage, the insurance will regulate this according to the contract conditions.
How fast do I get my regular deposit back?
If you choose the “without deposit” option, you do not need to leave a deposit at all. This eliminates the wait for the refund from the provider (which can often take up to 14 days).
