Arriving next: the Mercedes GLE 2025 in detail.
Mercedes GLE 2025 uses three highly optimized turbo engines – four, six and eight cylinders – across its range. Each is equipped with a mild hybrid setup called EQ Boost that pairs the gas engine with an integrated operating generator that adds up to 21 horsepower and restores power during the slowdown.
The basic model GLE 350 uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine (255 hp, 273 pounds of torque) while the GLE 450 comes with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbine engine with 375 hp EQ Boost and 369 pounds of foot. -Foot of torque. This year, the hybrid GLE 450e joins the group with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turboprop engine with a single electric motor and a 23.3 kilowatt-hour mini battery pack. With 248 horsepower, it does not provide as much power or acceleration as GLE 450, but it should be more fuel efficient. Mercedes says it will reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. This is about half a second slower than GLE 450, but it’s more than a second faster than GLE 350, so it’s definitely fast enough for most buyers.
The 2025 Mercedes GLE seats five, and the optional third-row seat accommodates seven. The third row is adult-friendly Mercedes even admits it’s “suitable for average-sized adults but perfect for kids”. You’ll need a full-size SUV for a more welcoming third row. But the first and second rows are roomy. The second-row legroom measures 40.9 inches, making the GLE a roomier option than the X5 (37.4 inches).
Every aspect of the GLE’s cabin feels expensive, with high-quality upholstery and trim. The overall design feels modern yet classic. This year, Mercedes updated the GLE’s steering wheel with new touch-sensitive controls for the audio system and the SUV’s digital displays.
The center and side air vents have also been updated with a nice chrome finish, a design touch previously exclusive to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Lower the second row and capacity balloons to 74.9 cubic feet. That’s more than the Cayenne, which offers up to 27.2 cubic feet behind its rear seats and 60.3 cubic feet with folded seats.
The Mercedes GLE comes in a variety of models according to the preferences and requirements of the consumers. This includes the basic GLE models which serve basic to high level luxury with comfort features or the sporty AMG variants which possess a higher dynamic driving experience and performance.
The GLE 450 ($70,650) is similar to the GLE 350, but with more power thanks to a six-cylinder engine. It also offers a few additional options, including air suspension, soft-close doors, and a cabin air purifier.
The GLE 450e ($70,650) is a new hybrid model powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor. It’s equipped like the GLE 450 and both cost the same. It doesn’t offer quite as much power or acceleration as the GLE 450, but it should be significantly more fuel efficient.
The GLE 580 ($87,850) adds the V8 and standard air suspension but comes equipped like the GLE 450 with the same selection of options.
The 2025 Mercedes GLE is one of the best luxury picks among midsize SUVs. From its features and safety ratings to its impeccable build quality, the GLE exudes quality and efficiency. It also lags behind competitors like the BMW X5, Audi RSQ8 and Porsche Cayenne in performance. Still, the GLE’s polished handling, generous space, and plush cabin make it a class leader.
